  • As a diabetic, it is important for you to have a lab test known as Hemoglobin A1c every 3 months at your primary care physician's office.


  • Your HbA1c should be routinely monitored to ensure you can live an active and healthy lifestyle without any complications from your diabetes.

  • Monitoring your Blood Pressure should be done 2-4 times a year.


  • How often you should be monitored is discussed with the doctor on an individual basis.

  • Women beginning at the age of 40 need to have routine mammograms.


  • Routine varies per individual, but usually are every year to every 2 years.

  • Pap Smear screening should begin at the age of 21.
  • Routine exams should be scheduled every 2-3 years.

  • Colonoscopy screening begins at the age of 50 for both men and women.


  • Routine exams are done every 5-10 years if Normal.


  • For abnormal results, routine exam schedules will be discussed with your doctor and would occur more frequently.

  • Men between the ages of 40 and 75 are encouraged to have routine Prostate Cancer Screening.


  • A "PSA" is a blood test performed to check your prostate for any abnormal values and may help detect prostate cancer early.

  • Your cholesterol should be checked 1-2 times per year.


  • This will help manage your existing condition, help to maintain or adjust any current medications, and also discuss diet and exercise.

  • Your thyroid is checked once a year with your annual physical.


  • Patients diagnosed with Hypothyroidism/Hyperthyroidism should have there TSH (Thyroid levels) checked at the least every 6 months but not limited to.

  • Eye Exams should be done every 1-2 years depending on any vision problems or glaucoma risks.


  • Diabetic Patients should have yearly diabetic eyes exams.

  • All women over the age of 64 should have a Bone Density Test.


  • Men between the ages of 50-70 should discuss screening with you Primary Care Physician, as you may have risk factors for osteoporosis.

  • You should get a flu shot every year. We offer flu shots during the months of September thru January.


  • Ask our Primary Care Physician if you should get a the Pneumococcal Vaccine to reduce your risk of Pneumonia.


  • If you are at the age of 60 and older, you may get the Shingles or Herpes Zoster Vaccine.
